Marketing agency completes HQ move to refurbished premises

Property developer Allenby Commercial has welcomed its anchor tenant into the top floor of its newly refurbished Danish Buildings on High Street in Hull’s old town.

Fred Marketing, the full-service marketing agency, provides a full range of business focussed marketing solutions to clients based regionally, nationally and internationally.

Fred, formerly based on Hull Marina, has recently expanded operations and needed a new home for its headquarters.

Originally built in 1858, the Danish Buildings were purchased by Allenby Commercial in May 2017 from Hull City Council, along with the Grade-I listed property, Bayles House, at the rear of the building.

The Danish Buildings have now been redeveloped into 12 studio spaces with all the functionalities of a contemporary office studio.

Emma Pearson-Kendall, managing director at Fred Marketing, said: “This is a fantastic new working space for Fred in an excellent location that we’re proud to call home. As well as our marketing, PR and design work with clients around the world and in this region, we’re also delivering more strategic business consultancy than ever before, so a move to these stunning new premises is perfectly timed to accommodate our growing team.

“It’s also a great way to showcase the city as our clients from further afield fall in love with the old town – it’s a very special place. The building is very special and Allenby team have worked with us throughout the entire refurbishment process, making sure we have been involved every step of the way.”

She added: “We wanted a building that was unique and had a real sense of identity and a rich history but was also complete with everything we needed to run a modern growing business and the Danish Buildings provides us with exactly that.

“Feedback from clients who have visited already has been fantastic and we look forward to welcoming the rest of Fred’s friends, old and new, to come and join us for a coffee – and of course, the obligatory “Danish” pastry!”

The family-owned property developer has also confirmed that over 80% of the rooms in the Danish Buildings have now been forward let.

Georgia Allenby, design and marketing manager at Allenby Commercial, said: “We love the architecture and extensive history of Hull’s High Street. Before we had acquired the building we already had a very clear vision of the type of businesses that we wanted to attract to the area, and we knew exactly the type of space we needed to create in order to do this.

“It’s important to get the style and quality finish within each studio just right, but we also see the importance in making the communal spaces an equally attractive and useable environment for tenants and visitors, we’ve seen in our previous multi-occupied developments such as The Bloc how these shared spaces can encourage collaborations and relationships to develop between the mixed occupiers.”

James Joannou, associate director of Allenby Commercial, added: “Fred Marketing enter Danish Buildings as seasoned and experienced leaders in their field within the city. They will now anchor Danish Buildings, to drive forward opportunities for collaboration and to assist with the development of like-minded businesses that will be welcomed to the building over the coming months.”

“As the estates surveyor of Danish Buildings, before its sale, I am delighted to once again be involved in the building and see that it remains committed to its heritage as a multi-occupied building, wherein businesses can grow and benefit from shared knowledge, whilst benefitting from all of the fantastic opportunities that the location offers.”
