The Business Masters offer an opportunity to tell your company’s story, says engineering firm boss

The managing director of a Sheffield engineering firm, which took home the Medium Business Award at this year’s Business Masters, is encouraging other companies in the region to enter the recently-launched 2019 event.

SCX managing director Simon Eastwood said: “SCX’s win in the Business Masters ‘Medium Business of the Year’ category was covered both locally and nationally, with plenty of customers and prospects noticing our social media activity afterwards.

“But it’s more than a quick hit – winning the award gives our staff something special to bring up in conversations with anyone they meet. It’s something that will continue to add value over the next few years.

“Awards play an important part in our marketing plan too – not just because of the chance to win an award, or even to be shortlisted. The application process forces us to think about what makes our business special, what our achievements were over the past year, and where we might be headed next. This means that we take every award entry very seriously. After all, a half-baked application stands out in a bad way.

“Awards are a great opportunity for you to tell your company’s story. In our case, it showed the journey of how our engineering expertise has evolved to world-leading standards. It’s a chance to highlight the skills that our staff bring and what they’ve achieved. And of course, to showcase those customers that really demonstrate what we do: like the retractable pitch and grow lights for Tottenham Hotspur, and the second retractable roof we’re currently installing over No.1 Court at Wimbledon.

“And win or lose, entering awards always gives us some fantastic, fresh content to use throughout our marketing.”

TheBusinessDesk.com has now launched the ninth Yorkshire Business Masters Awards, which will recognise the achievements of firms of all sizes across the region.
