Wellbeing firm strengthens service offering with second acquisition

A Leeds-based digital wellness firm has now completed its second acquisition in less than three months.

hero has acquired employee health, fitness and wellbeing company, UKWellbeing Coach Limited, for an undisclosed sum. 

Established in 2012, UKWellbeing Coach delivers a range of services to businesses across the UK from health checks, health and wellbeing seminars and training programmes, bootcamps as well as screenings and other health tests.

hero completed the acquisition after forming a working partnership with UKWellbeing Coach earlier this year.

UKWellbeing Coach will become part of the hero group, which also includes Colour-Fit, the professional sports nutrition company which was acquired by hero in September.  

Joe Gaunt, founder and CEO of hero, said: “It’s been a whirlwind eight months since we launched the business and to achieve our second acquisition is quite an achievement and testament to the hardwork and commitment of the hero team.

“We are on a simple mission; to help people at every stage of their life, navigate their personal wellness journey.  When I first met Andy the MD of UKWellbeing Coach, we clicked straight away. We have a shared passion of helping people to become happier and healthier.  

“UKWellbeing Coach has been operating for about six years now and it takes a holistic approach to improving employee health and uses coaching skills and techniques to offer advice, guidance and support, which is completely aligned to the beliefs, ethos and approach of hero.”

Andy Romero-Birkbeck, former managing director of UKWellbeing Coach, will assume the role of education and delivery director.  

He added: “I am thrilled to be part of the hero group and excited to be playing an active role in creating what is set to be an awesome legacy.  We will remain focused on doing what we do best, which is delivering support, training and mentoring for managers and senior leaders working in large and small organisations.”
