Employment lawyer completes MBO at HR software firm

A Sheffield-based HR software firm has changed ownership after a completing a management buyout.

Myhrtoolkit, which has a turnover of around £1m, is human resources administration software platform primarily aimed at companies from 2 to 250 employees.

The business was conceived by managing director Jon Curtis in Sheffield from 2005 at the same time as building Sheffield commercial law firm Ironmonger Curtis with commercial lawyer Trevor Ironmonger.

The buyout means that Curtis has completed his 20-year stint as an employment lawyer and is now focusing all of his time and energy on Myhrtoolkit, assisted by directorial team Bob Teasdale and Kit Barker.

Curtis: “It is fantastic to have control of the company I started, but also to be able to focus entirely on one thing. It has been great fun over the years combining a law career with managing a successful software as a service company, but the time has come to focus.”

Curtis and his team were advised by  Transcend Corporate based in Birmingham and assisted by Sheffield based banker Tom Islip of Barclays. “It’s great to be able help a Sheffield-based business move on to the next level. It’s a great business and we are delighted to be involved,” said Islip.

Myhrtoolkit employs 14 staff in Sheffield and over 45,000 employees across the UK and Ireland subscribe to the service.
