My Yorkshire: Lauren Fealy, Easy Bathrooms

Lauren Fealy is operations manager at Easy Bathrooms, a national retailer of bathroom products and tiles, headquartered in Batley.

Where do you live/where are you from?

I’m originally from Wakefield, but now I live in Huddersfield.

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?

It has to be Bolton Abbey for me. It’s such a lovely day out for everyone, at any time of the year! My little boy loves it, we have so many memories there already.

What is still on your “to do” list in the region?

To go on the gin experience at Slingsby Gin in Harrogate. I’m not a massive drinker but I do have a bit of a weakness for gin.

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?

We’re quite spoilt for good restaurants, but I have to say The 3 Acres in Huddersfield – it never disappoints and you honestly can’t beat their chips!

What is your most Yorkshire trait?

I’ve been known to be a bit of a bargain hunter. I also love a brew – it’s got to be Yorkshire tea!

Favourite piece of trivia about the region?

We have more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other region other than London – I’m making it my mission to eat at them all!

What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?

Ed Sheeran. Although he was brought up in Surrey, he was born in Halifax, and I love his voice. He’s playing in Leeds this year, unfortunately I didn’t bag any tickets though.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?

I’d love a Whole Foods to pop up locally. I’m a big believer in healthy eating and plant-based, organic produce. You can’t get a lot of ingredients I like to cook with in Yorkshire – it needs to catch up!

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?

In a similar vein, I think we need better Deliveroo and Uber Eats options in our towns – I’d love to steal that from London, as well as some more cultural offerings.

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?

Nothing, the majority of Yorkshire is beautiful – we’re very lucky to live here!
