Accountancy firm sees turnover soar in record-breaking year

Accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott has reported a record-breaking year as turnover increase by 17% to £7.8m.

The firm, which has offices in Leeds and York, secured 600 new business wins in this current financial year.

Client wins for the 2017-2018 financial year were across a wide range of sectors including TEV (designers and manufacturers of cooling, heating and refrigeration equipment), Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, Shepherd’s Purse cheese company and several new regional micro-breweries.

The charities team secured several new clients including Age UK Leeds, whilst a win for Payroll was ilke Homes.

In addition, the Corporate Finance team acted as lead advisors on the sales of TEF Transport, First Response Group and the Management Buy Out of SCS Group.

Garbutt + Elliott has one of the largest independent corporate finance teams in Yorkshire, comprising 11 people led by partners Richard Feltham, Tony Farmer and Tariq Javaid.

This year has seen the team act as lead financial advisor on 44 completed projects and a further 30 currently in progress, across sectors that include manufacturing and engineering, printing, brewing, food, transport, healthcare, support services and technology.

The total value of deals completed during the year exceeds £100m.

Throughout the year Garbutt + Elliott has recruited 20 new employees to its accounts and audit team and an additional 20 staff members across corporate finance, wealth management, tax, payroll, private clients and operations. The firm’s overall headcount has increased to 152.
