Technology group swoops for local government services provider

Sheffield-headquartered technology firm Servelec has acquired Careervision – known as C:Vision – to strengthen its local government division.

The deal comes just over a year after £65m-turnover Servelec was bought by private equity firm Montagu for £223.9m. Servelec provides software, hardware and services to the healthcare, social care and education, oil and gas, energy and utilities sectors.

The company, which was founded in 1977, was valued at £122m when it listed on the London Stock Exchange’s main market in 2013 but left the stock market after it was acquired by Montagu in November 2017.

C:Vision provides case management and information solutions to local government children’s and young people’s services teams, and is a well-established, trusted provider within the local government customer base. Based in Northwich, Cheshire, C:Vision employs 40 people including developers, customer support professionals and a number of sales and business support roles. C:Vision Ltd will begin to operate under the title Servelec Youth Services, aligned to the Servelec brand.

Servelec said the acquisition significantly strengthened its local government offering, “giving customers the tools and support to provide coherent, joined up digital care to service users together through a range of interoperable solutions.”

The acquisition completes the circle of digital care pathways in Children’s Services. Once integrated, social workers, youth support teams, finance teams and support staff across Servelec’s children’s and youth services customer base will have access to the right information at the right time.

C:Vision’s complex youth offending case management, NEET tracking and youth activity tools, substance misuse and victim support products complement the space between Servelec’s social care case management system, Mosaic and education Synergy suite.

Alan Stubbs, Chief Executive Officer at Servelec, said: “At Servelec, everything we do is focused on providing people with better outcomes. The acquisition of C:Vision by Servelec ensures that, for children’s and youth services teams at local authorities, every service user will be supported and every support worker will have access to the information they need, when they need it, enabling even the most complex of cases to be managed safely.

“We look forward to welcoming the C:Vision team to Servelec and working closely to integrate our solutions and enable the sharing of information across all settings.”

Jason Stevens, Managing Director of Career Vision added: “The management team and I have built up C:Vision around the concept of providing the right information at the right time to enable those involved in care provision to intervene early if required to deliver better outcomes for children, young people and adolescents.

“We are excited by this new chapter in C:Vision’s development and look forward to working with the team at Servelec to provide an integrated solution to our shared customer base.”

Walker Morris acted as legal advisor on the transaction and Deloitte provided financial and tax due diligence services.
