People: Recruitment firm announces trio of senior appointments; Property firm welcomes design director; and more

Recruitment firm BWD has announced a trio of new appointments.

Mohammed Chaudhry joins as Divisional Director – Non-Life Actuarial. Chaudhry joins BWD from Oliver James Associates where he was managing an Actuarial Division.

James Jackson is rejoining BWD as Senior Consultant within Sales & Distribution and Stuart Brooke joins as Senior Consultant – Pensions & Benefits.

Chaudhry, who has been specialising in the Actuarial recruitment market for nearly 10 years’, will be responsible for growing BWD’s Non-Life Actuarial Division for both permanent and interim positions.

Jackson is re-joining BWD after nearly two years absence from Financial Services recruitment. Brooke joined towards the end of 2018 from Sharp and will be working within the Employee Benefits sector.

Norstar Real Estate, the property development company, has announced the appointment of Andrew Jones as design director.

Jones, who has specialised in technical design in main line construction for more than 20 years, joins Easingwold-based Norstar from Galliford Try in the North East, where he was a freelance Technical manager.

He said: “Norstar is a really good fit for me. I left Galliford Try after five years to find a new challenge in an entrepreneurial environment and that is what Norstar represents for me. Although they are a relatively young company, they have achieved a great deal in a short space of time.

“I pride myself on being motivated and professional and I am confident that my strong design skills, combined with an extensive technical background and organisational skills, will bring together architects, structural engineers, building service engineers and other specialists sub-contractors to create co-ordinated and successful development projects.”

Paul Brown, director of Norstar, said: “Andrew’s experience and expertise will be invaluable to us as we embark on and conclude developments across the Yorkshire region. He joins us at a very important time for the company.

“We are currently on site with residential projects in York, Whitby and Kirby Hill, near Boroughbridge, and will be soon starting on site in Sheffield and Andrew will be working across our whole portfolio, providing essential design and technical advice and leadership.”

Airedale Chemical has announced a new appointment to its Board of Directors.

The West Yorkshire-based firm specialises in the manufacture of industrial chemicals, surfactants, phosphates and phosphonates.

Dan Marr takes on the role of Commercial Director after seven years at Airedale Chemical and will oversee the technical, compliance and marketing departments whilst continuing to support the company’s sales team.

Marr joined the company as marketing manager in 2011 moving to head of marketing in 2015 before being appointed to the board.

His role will involve the continued development of Airedale, including product development, scoping of new market opportunities and initiatives to increase efficiency in the running of the business.

Chris Chadwick, Managing Director of Airedale Chemical, said: “Dan originally headed up our marketing department but over the last six years his role has diversified and increased in responsibility and he has excelled in all his positions.

“The Commercial Director role is a new position and will be incredibly important to Airedale Chemical in 2019 and beyond. We head into an important year for the company as we continue our plans to expand into new markets and industries whilst considering possible challenges presented by Brexit.

“We’re thrilled to have Dan on the board and are incredibly optimistic about the future with him as part of our senior team.”

Airedale Chemical, a third generation, family run company based in Cross Hills, has supplied speciality chemicals to the agricultural, food and drink, manufacturing and healthcare industries for more than 45 years.

Dakota Deluxe Leeds has appointed Ross Tatham as Deputy General Manager where he will assume responsibility for over 130 staff.

Tatham is bringing with him over 16 years’ experience within the hospitality industry, having held several positions at Rudding Park Hotel and Fortum & Mason in the UK, and at Atlantis, Marco Pierre White, and Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai.

In his previous roles, he was responsible for implementing policies and procedures required to run and enhance these high-end operators.
