North Yorkshire residential development set for market launch

A new development in the Groves residential area on the edge of York city centre is being brought to market.

To be named St John’s Mews, the scheme comprises 29 one, two and three bedroom studios, apartments and duplex apartments, with prices starting at £160,000.

St John’s Mews is situated on the site of the former Grove House care home in Penley’s Grove Street.

The build project, which is being managed by Doncaster-based contractors Pacy and Wheatley, will include a complete conversion, extension and residential renovation of the existing building.

Designed by architects Bowman Riley, the development is expected to launched in February.

Savills’ new homes team in Yorkshire has been instructed by the Caedmon Homes arm of Norstar Real Estate Group to market property at St John’s Mews.

Jamie Adam, head of new homes at Savills in the north, said: “St John’s Mews offers a contemporary look with London Stock Brick elevations and large aluminium framed double glazed windows under a slate roof.

“It is rare to find apartments within walking distance of the city centre which boast a gated landscaped communal garden and secure car parking and as a result, we anticipate high levels of interest, particularly from professionals and downsizers, when the scheme launches next month.”

Paul Brown of Caedmon Homes, added: “We are delighted to appoint Savills as the marketing agents for St John’s Mews. They have an excellent track record in residential development in the north of England and we look forward to working together over the coming months and making St John’s Mews a success.

“The development is clearly aimed at owner-occupiers. The affordability of the homes is a very important element of this project. With the Government’s Help to Buy initiative, we trust that a number of young professionals will be able to become home-owners for the first time.”
