Weekender: Chicken restaurant brand to open city centre venue

Chicken restaurant brand Yard & Coop is set to open a new venue in Leeds city centre, creating in excess of 30 jobs.

Yard & Coop, which already operates two sites in Liverpool and Manchester, will open its newest restaurant on Merrion Street in the site formerly occupied by Miah’s Kitchen.

The 120-cover restaurant will offer a menu that allows customers to choose a cut of meat and sauce, along with an option of fries toppings ranging from homemade chicken gravy to cheese and chip shop curry sauce.

The food offering will include a Large Plates section, which features an array of dishes such as the chicken breast with buttery mash, Yorkshire pud and gravy.

The Leeds restaurant will also feature a £5 lunch menu with takeaway and delivery options.

In addition, Yard & Coop boats a cocktail menu with 13 bespoke offerings and a gin menu with six different creations.

A selection of craft beers will also be available, including Yard Pilsner, Paulaner Munich Helles Lager and Flip the Bird IPA on draught, along with 20 bottled beers that includes Beaver Town, Brooklyn Lager, Delirium Tremens and Lindeman’s Kriek Cherry Beer.

Carl Morris, co-founder and director, said: “Leeds is an amazing city and were extremely excited to bring the Home of Buttermilk Fried Chicken to the people of Yorkshire. We’re all about booze, chicken, good times and we can’t wait to meet everyone.”

Yard & Coop Leeds is scheduled to launch at the end of February.
