Weekender: Fashion show fundraiser set for inaugural event

On Thursday 14 March, a small committee of three with a vested interest in The Charlies Angel Foundation for bereaved parents will be producing a black-tie ball at Aspire in Leeds city centre.

This inaugural event is driven forward with the objective of financially supporting charity as every day, too many parents are left devastated by the tragic loss of a baby at birth or shortly after.

Yorkshire-based Charlies Angels Foundation provides vital emotional support and invites bereaved parents into a warm and welcoming community of help. Their ultimate goal is to raise £88,000 needed to open a centre of support in Leeds, for bereaved parents.

Charlie’s Ball will consist of a red carpet entrance with champagne reception, a boutique three course meal and professional fashion show featuring local retailers. On the running order will be bespoke eveningwear and bridalwear, designer casuals, tailored tweed, lingerie, swimwear, ethical clothing and occasion wear.

The event will also be welcoming London performance duo J’Adore La Vie, as well as the famous cabaret performers at Leeds Viaduct provided by Terry George.

Charlie’s auction will feature a package at the stately Victorian hotel The Majestic, Harrogate, a helicopter flight and champagne afternoon tea provided by The Devonshire Arms in association with Helijet and private box at Leeds Direct Arena for 16 people for one of Michael Buble’s tour dates.

National diamonds specialists Rox, Leeds is running its  “Rox In A Box” activity whereby one guest will be leaving the ball room with a £2000 diamond piece of jewellery.

ITV’s Calendar presenters Christine Talbot and Duncan Wood will be guest comperes for the evening.

Rachel Cheshire who is heading the event management and is one of the three committee members sadly went through a loss when her daughter, Lillia, was tragically born dead in February 2017. She and her husband, Matt, reached out to the Charlie’s Angels Foundation and was provided with a one-on-one councillor; a facility not provided by many of the larger national child bereavement charities.

Cheshire, a professional fashion show producer, then decided it was important to give something back. She was joined by her other two committee members, Lyndon Campbell, a partner at Bevan Brittan and Diane Fisher, Medical Education Manager for the NHS in Leeds.
