Manufacturing firm secures 58,000 sq ft industrial space to relocate HQ

A manufacturer and distributor of tools is to take a 58,000 sq ft industrial warehouse in Elland, which will become its headquarters and European technology Centre.

Colchester Machine Tool Solutions (CMTS), part of the London-based 600 Group UK, is to move from its Heckmondwike base to support its growth plans.

The firm has secured a 15-year lease on the Lowfields Industrial Estate in Elland, West Yorkshire. The Leeds office of property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips (DHP) concluded the deal on behalf of landlords The Waddington and Ledger Group.

Terry Allison, managing director of CMTS, said: “The unit was the ideal size for our future requirements and offered excellent links to transport routes. The location was also central when considering the spread of our employees.

“We are relocating from Heckmondwike to support our future plans and growth. This will include newly refurbished offices, show room and training centre, warehousing and production facility.

“This will be our headquarters and will be known as our European Technology Centre.”

Mike Haigh, partner with DHP added: “This is a significant deal, underlining the growing strength of CMTS. It is also excellent news for the Calderdale economy, illustrating the popularity of one of its most popular industrial parks.

“Lowfields is a tremendous success story. The rents are holding up exceptionally well in comparison to other industrial estates in West Yorkshire, underlining the exceptional quality of the units on site. It also helps that Lowfields is superbly located just off Junction 24 of the M62.

“Consequently it benefits from the immediate links to the motorway network. It is also very well-placed for both Leeds and Manchester and has excellent access to both the East and West Coast ports.”
