30 jobs lost as precast concrete business ceases trading

A Ripon-based precast concrete firm has ceased trading, resulting in the loss of up to 30 jobs.

Ebor Concretes designs, manufactures and delivers bespoke reinforced concrete components including frames and beams, stairs, dock leveller pits and retaining walls.

Companies such as BAM, Galliford Try, McLaren and Wates were among its clients.

Founded more than 70 years ago, Ebor Concrete was acquired by concrete product supplier Amber Precast in 2016.

Ebor Concrete was most recently appointed to supply a secure Ebor Structural Precast package for the York City Community Stadium – an 8,000 all-seat community sports stadium to host professional football and rugby league games, and a new leisure and sports centre.

The company was contracted to supply a variety of structural precast components including terrace units, vomitory wall, precast stairs, landings, end walls, step blocks and walkways.

Ebor’s website has now been shut down and one of its employes posted on Linkedin: “Would like to wish all the best to the staff at ebor concrete. Hope we all get sorted with new jobs. It’s been amazing and like a big family.”
