People: Clipper Logistics appoints new director; Non-exec announces retirement from SIG; and more

Clipper Logistics, the Leeds-based provider of logistics solutions and e-fulfilment to the retail sector, has announced the appointment of Stephen Robertson as Senior Independent Director.

Robertson has served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Clipper since its IPO in 2014, and has years of experience in the retail industry.

He is currently Chairman of Retail Economics, and his current Non-Executive Directorships include Timpson Group and Hargreaves Lansdown.

Steve Parkin, Executive Chairman of Clipper, said: “I am delighted that Stephen has agreed to become Senior Independent Director at Clipper, and I look forward to continuing to work with him as we further strengthen the Board at Clipper.

“To that end, a recruitment process is underway for a third Non-Executive Director, and an announcement will be made to the market in due course regarding that appointment.”

Mike Russell, Non-Executive Director, will take over from Stephen Robertson as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.

Sheffield-based SIG has announced that Janet Ashdown, a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee, is retiring from the Board.

SIG is a listed company which supplies insulation, roofing, commercial interiors and specialist construction products.

Andrew Allner, Chairman of SIG plc, said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Janet for her significant contribution and dedication over the last eight years. We wish her well for the future.”

The search for a new Non-Executive Director and Remuneration Committee Chair is well underway.

Diva Creative, the Sheffield-based marketing agency, has appointed a new Business Development Executive.

Alex Avis joins the firm after working in sponsorship sales at an events and media company in London.

His new role will see him create bid responses and quotes, find suitable tenders and research revenue opportunities to help the agency win new contracts and pitche.

Avis is also working alongside account managers to deliver projects for clients including West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

His addition follows Diva’s recent appointments of Account Managers Adam Anson and Jennifer Tully.

Avis said: “It is exciting to join a growing agency that already has so much creative talent and ambition.

“I am particularly enjoying helping the wider team to respond to clients’ briefs with innovative new ideas and getting involved in the campaign design and development process.”
