People: Law firm welcomes commercial property expert; Housebuilder announces raft of appointments

Sheffield law firm Taylor&Emmet LLP is strengthening the services it offers to local businesses with the appointment of a new commercial property specialist.

Richard Whiteley is joining the team based at the firm’s Arundel Gate headquarters to offer advice on complex and commercial property matters of all sizes.

Whiteley has spent the last 15 years at Ellis-Fermor Negus, where he spearheaded the opening and growth of its Belper office.

He said: “Having established myself in Derbyshire, it was a big decision to move into a new market, but the opportunity at Taylor&Emmet was too good to pass up. I had encountered the firm in previous transactions and admired its efficiency and professionalism.

“The business legal services team has a breadth of expertise only usually found in larger practices and I look forward to playing an integral role in its future success.”

Whiteley’s remit will include commercial property cases of all types, from helping business owners purchase premises, to negotiating leases on industrial units and the sale of multi-plot development sites.

Neil Riley, Taylor&Emmet’s head of real estate, added: “I would like to welcome Richard to the firm. His commercial acumen and approachable nature are already proving popular with clients and I have no doubt he will quickly build a reputation for excellence within the Sheffield city region. He is a great addition to our commercial property team.”
