People: Chartered accountancy announces raft of new appointments; Law firm welcomes new senior associate; and more

Hunter Gee Holroyd, the York-based chartered accountancy and business advice firm, has strengthened its practice with an intake of new recruits.

The new appointments comprise Clair Watmore, Charlie Pearson, Julie Wilkins, Katie Walters, Nicola Ward and Tim Turner.

Turner has over forty years’ experience within accountancy practice, working with sole traders, partnerships and small/medium sized companies. He manages the Filey branch of the practice.

New Marketing Manager Watmore joins the firm bringing over a decade of experience in the professional and financial services sectors. She has a background in digital and service sector marketing and will be responsible for developing and delivering the marketing plan and business development.

With 12 years’ experience in the construction industry, Walters joins the practice as Receptionist at the York office, along with Pearson who joins as a Cloud Bookkeeper. Pearson is AAT and Xero Cloud accounting qualified, currently studying for her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Wilkins and Ward also join the York office; Wilkins as Practice Administrator bringing many years of accounts experience within large to medium size businesses across various industries and Ward as Semi-Senior Accountant, who has over five years’ experience in accountancy and is AAT qualified.

Law firm Freeths has bolstered its Restructuring & Insolvency Team in Sheffield with the appointment of Senior Associate, Isobel Callaghan from Lupton Fawcett.

Callaghan has joined the insolvency and restructuring practice in the city, working in the wider team of five fee-earners, alongside Partner and Head of Department, Oliver Jackson.

She has over nine years’ experience in dealing with both contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters. She works closely with insolvency practitioners, directors and owners of businesses, accountants and individuals in all aspects of corporate and personal insolvency law.

Callaghan provides commercial and practical advice to clients including assisting insolvency practitioners in pursuing claims arising from insolvency estates and the merits of those claims.

She advises on corporate insolvencies (including administrations, liquidations and CVAs) and complex bankruptcy matters, including dealing with potential claims for preferences and transactions at undervalue and misfeasance actions.

Horbury Property Services, the Rotherham-based repairs, maintenance and compliance business, has appointed Mark Jagger as Senior Estimator.

Jagger previously worked as Design Estimator for a major building and facilities company in Derby and prior to this as Senior Estimator at Interserve Power, where he headed up projects for power line replacement and maintenance and new high voltage underground connection works.

For both roles, he responded to tender enquiries, including providing full pricing for projects.

At Horbury Property Services, Jagger will track, record and reply in full to all appropriate tender opportunities, which includes completing pre-qualification questionnaires, submitting relevant documentation required by the organisation and estimating costs to carry out projects.
