Plans approved for construction of 35-apartment development

Plans have been approved for a new residential building at Heritage Park in Sheffield.

The new build is part of a wider plan for the site, which is located north west of the city centre in Upperthorpe at the former Royal Infirmary site.

Work has already been completed on the conversion of former vacant office blocks into residential apartments.

Delivered by Mabec Property and Franklin Ellis Architects, this involved the refurbishment and conversion of Grade II-listed Heritage House, which was built in 1795, and Grade-II listed Round House, built in 1884, as well as the conversion of Victoria House.

The new five-floor apartment building will be constructed on land adjacent to Heritage House which is currently being used for car parking.

The building will feature 35 apartments, including 17 one-bed units, 17 two-bed units and one three-bed unit.

Jon Crabb, associate partner at Franklin Ellis Architects, said: “Heritage Park is comprised of beautiful, historically significant listed buildings, so it was very important to us to respect the nature of the site and retain its original charm while creating modern residential units that future tenants will love.

“We’re pleased that the new build has received planning and we look forward to seeing the site progress.”

Once work on the new apartment building is complete, the Heritage Park site will feature 133 apartments across the four buildings.
