People: Law firm bolsters board of directors; Security firm appoints national operations manager

Law firm Ware & Kay Solicitors, which has offices in York, Wetherby and Malton, has announced the appointment of litigation solicitor, Johanne Spittle as Head of Department to its Litigation Department and to the firm’s Board of Directors.

In taking up her new Head of Department role, Spittle will provide strategic direction, leadership and support to the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team.

Spittle brings with her a wealth of experience in court work and arbitration. She is recognised for her experience in handling complex cases particularly in the resolution of commercial and property related disputes and contentious landlord and tenant law.

She will give advice to a range of property owning clients including landed estates, farmers and agricultural businesses as well as commercial and residential landlords handling possession claims; recovery of rent arrears; breaches of lease covenants; contested business lease renewals; dilapidations; property ownership disputes.

Spittle has a particular interest in helping clients in regards to private and public rights of way including modifications of the Definitive Map and infringement of property rights. In addition, she also provides advice on partnership and shareholder disputes.

Spittle joins Ware & Kay with over 33 years’ experience in litigation and dispute resolution. She graduated from the University of Sheffield and studied at Guildford College of Law qualifying as a Solicitor in 1986, beginning her career in Birmingham before moving to York and working for another local firm.

She is a member of the Property Litigation Association; The Country Landowners & Business Association and is a Fellow of the Agricultural Lawyers Association.

Servo Group, the Leeds-based multi-service provider, has appointed Christian Kisby as its National Operations Manager.

Kisby is a former Army Section Commander with 13 years in service. His military skills, which include counter-terrorism, search, tactics and weapons and reconnaissance training, will be invaluable to Servo’s security operations.

In addition to his military experience, Kisby has also previously held close security positions for clients in Dubai and Saudi Arabia and worked as Director of Operations at Rival Security.

Established in 2014, Servo Group provides S.I.A licensed manned guarding, CCTV, vetted and screened rail labour and property management services to clients such as Buckingham Group, Balfour Beatty and Stobart Group.

The company’s turnover that will be circa £10m this year.
