Profits set to put Jet2.com owners in holiday mood

Dart Group, the leisure travel and logistics business which owns holiday company Jet2.com, said this morning it expects group profits for the year to be better than expected.

It said that pre-tax profits before foreign exchange revaluations for the year to 31 March 2019 would be “slightly ahead of current market expectations.”

Dart added that the success of its leisure travel business, Jet2.com, is behind the positive outlook.

Despite this, it cautioned that the “uncertain UK economic outlook.” particularly in relation to Brexit, continued to cause uncertainty. It said in its 2018 interim results that it was unclear on how demand would develop in the medium term.

Now, the “all important” Summer 2019 bookings appear to be putting Dart in the holiday mood. They are described as “positive” although the company admits that consumer uncertainty and competition will play a factor.

Dart said its board remained optimistic of meeting current market expectations of group profit. It will announce its preliminary results for the year ended 31 March 2019 in July.
