Adam Milner

Enact, the SME Fund providing transformational investment of up to £5m in UK businesses, has added further to its Leeds team with the recruitment of Adam Milner and Luke Wolf.

Milner joins Enact as Associate Director with a focus on the portfolio of investments and supporting the incumbent management teams in developing and delivering their growth plans.  He brings a breadth of experience having spent eight years at KPMG before holding senior finance and operational roles in SME’s across the North.

Luke Wolf

Wolf joins as an Investment Executive in the Enact Leeds team, having previously worked at PwC.  As an Investment Executive, he will be involved throughout the deal process from origination to completion and will also support the portfolio.

Chris Cormack, Head of the Enact Fund, said “The recruitment of Adam and Luke further strengthens the Enact team and follows the recent recruitment of Mark Stevens to lead Enact’s deal origination and marketing in London.  The Enact investment team now consists of five dedicated investment professionals nationally and provides the platform to invest the second Enact Fund, which will be formally launched in the next few weeks.

“Enact will continue to invest transformational capital into SMEs to provide them with a stable base from which to grow. Adam brings a good balance of hands-on finance experience within SMEs and advisory roles from his time in practice and Luke has gained fantastic experience to date from his training at PwC.”

Milner said: “I look forward to contributing to the further success of Enact as it continues to grow its investment activity.  The first Enact Fund was a fantastic success and it is a very exciting time to be joining with the imminent launch of Enact Fund II.

Enact, part of private equity firm Endless, was launched to deal with that part of the market no longer suitable for Endless institutional funds.  It was raised in 2013 and was a microcosm of the wider Endless story.

A leading figure in the housebuilding industry has joined the Board of fast-growing Beal Homes.

John Reed is a vastly-experienced housebuilding executive who retired recently from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes after 27 years.

He joins as a Non-Executive Director and brings to the business considerable Board-level experience of the housebuilding industry and also extensive knowledge of the residential property market in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, where Beal operates.

A qualified accountant, Reed joined Barratt in York as Finance Director in 1989 and was promoted to Managing Director of the Yorkshire East Division in 1999.  From 2006 to 2016 Reed was Northern Regional Managing Director for Barratt and David Wilson, responsible for six divisions covering Yorkshire, North East England and all of Scotland.

The appointment comes as the housebuilder delivers a series of prestigious developments, with more major schemes in the pipeline. Current flagship developments include West Hill, Kirkella; Turpin’s Heath, Welton; St. John’s Fold, Beverley; and The Paddocks, Hessle; all in East Yorkshire; as well as a development in Hull’s Fruit Market urban village, which is being delivered with joint venture partner Wykeland Group.

Beal Chief Executive Richard Beal said: “We’re delighted to welcome John to the Board. He brings enormous knowledge, expertise and connections that will benefit the business as we enter our next phase of growth.

“We’re delivering progressively larger and more ambitious developments, so John joins us at an ideal time, when his experience will help to inform our strategic development going forward.”

Reed has become one of four Non-Executive Directors of the East Yorkshire-based business, led by Non-Executive Chairman and Founder John Beal. The others are Wayne Bowser, a former North of England regional director for HSBC, and leading local solicitor and businessman Simon Lunt.

Reed said: “I’m excited to have joined the Beal Board as I have been an admirer of the company, its values and its business model for many years.

“Beal Homes is acknowledged as a star performer in the industry and Yorkshire and Lincolnshire’s leading privately-owned housebuilder.

“The business is very well positioned for continuing growth and success and I’m looking forward to playing my part, working with the Executive team and my fellow Non-Executive Directors.”
