Telecommunications firm opens Leeds base to accelerate growth

An independent telecommunications and technology service provider has opened a Leeds office, where it will employ 60 people.

Rochdale-headquartered Zen said the move was part of the expansion and commitment to the Northern Powerhouse. To begin with, the firm will employ 22 people. It will be based in The Leeming Building – the former Leeds City Council owned premises.

Zen said the move was to widen its catchment area to recruit key skills and accelerate growth.

The expansion is a part of its ambitious plans to take on the big four players in the telecommunications industry and become a £150m business within the next four years. The company is looking for substantive growth in 2019, after announcing an annual turnover of £71m for 2018, up 11% from the previous year.

Paul Stobart, CEO at Zen, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be opening our first office outside of Rochdale and are excited to welcome our new Leeds colleagues into the Zen family. With our origins in Rochdale, we know the incredible talent and resources available in the north, which are often overlooked by London-based technology companies.

“As we continue to grow, the most important thing is to scale in a way that is flexible and sustainable. We put our people and our customers at the heart of everything we do and remain committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience.”
