Family-run jewellers launches York boutique

Family-run, independent jewellers Berry’s has purchased a second retail site in York, and is investing £500,000 in its refurbishment.

The site, at 1 Stonegate at St Helen’s Square, was formerly home to giftware retailer Crabtree and Evelyn. It’s a few doors from the original Berry’s store which has been trading for 30 years.

Work has begun on the refurbishment which will see it transformed into a watch and fine jewellery showroom. It’s set to open this summer.

Brands on show will include Omega, Breguet, Vacheron Constantin and Blancpain.

Managing Director of Berry’s Jewellers, Simon Walton, said: “It’s a wonderful site and we are delighted to own such a striking property in this prestigious location.

“We believe with the opening of another Berry’s shop on Stonegate, every major watch brand will be available on one street in the wonderful city of York. It remains one of the main tourist destinations in the UK and we have built up a loyal local clientele over many years.

“We have been looking for another location in York for a couple of years and jumped at the chance when this property became available”.
