Government department signs up for Leeds offices

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has taken space at Arena Point in Leeds.

Regional REIT (LSE: RGL), the regional real estate investment specialist announced several successful lettings, this morning, including the Arena Point site.

The Housing, Communities and Local Government department has taken 8,134 sq ft at Arena Point across its fourth and fifth floors on a flexible leasing basis.

Arena Point, also known as Tower House, is a 77 metre-high building and was renamed in 2016 to associate itself with the First Direct Arena closeby. The 1960s building has been reclad in recent years to modernise it.

Leeds is becoming more of a hub for government services, with MEPC’s Wellington Place attracting a new Government Hub which will employ more than 5,000 people in the HMRC and NHS Digital departments. This building broke the record for the largest ever pre-let in Leeds at 378,000 sq ft.
