Incubator for start-ups launches as York Science Park

York Science Park is launching an incubator for digital, creative, technology and science businesses.

Launching on June 25, Phase One is open to pre-start businesses or businesses less than 12 months old.

Business development executive Olivia Chatten said: “We’ve been working with start-ups and spin-outs for more than 25 years. No matter what sector, product or service they are trying to develop, we know that many start-ups experience the same problems and we want to give them the tools to help overcome them.”

York Science Park has been working with Ideas Group to develop the concept for Phase One. Based at the Innovation Centre for over 15 years, they deliver business, brand and marketing strategy and design for clients, working with start-ups to PLCs.

Nick Townend, managing director of Ideas Group, said: “It’s brilliant to be part of such a great project for the Science Park, University and the city using our interiors and brand experience design skills alongside brand creation and marketing. We look forward to being part of the support and mentoring team for members and making Phase One a launch pad for innovative 21st century businesses.”

Phase One will offer members space in the hub, connectivity, meeting space and focus pods, free for 12 months.

Claire Bennett, general manager of York Science Park, said: “We are delighted to finally launch Phase One. This has been years in the making for us, and we are looking for the most creative, innovative and dynamic new businesses to join our entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
