Law firm appoints former Drax finance chief

Richard Allen

Richard Allen has joined Irwin Mitchell as CFO after a spell of almost five years as group financial controller at Drax Group.

He replaces Andrew Merrick who has been at Irwin Mitchell for six years and has decided to undertake a range of non-executive roles, giving him more time to spend with his family and on his various sporting interests.

Allen has held various other CFO and head of finance roles at Drax Group, Augean, Yorkshire Water, Kelda Group and Nestle.

Andrew Tucker, group chief executive at Irwin Mitchell, said: “We thank Andrew Merrick for the valued support he has provided to many at Irwin Mitchell.

“Andrew has led the transformation of our finance function and has contributed significantly to the growth of our business. He is now working to ensure a smooth handover to our new CFO for our finance team.

“We are delighted to have Richard on board and his vast experience in working within large businesses will help us as we continue to grow the Irwin Mitchell Group in the years to come.”

Allen added: “This is an exciting time for Irwin Mitchell, it is a successful, growing business in a sector which is undergoing remarkable change and there are many opportunities for the Group. We are in a healthy position financially and I look forward to being part of the continued success story over the coming years.”
