Printing firm acquires new premises in £3.5m deal

A new 41,500 sq ft industrial unit in South Yorkshire has been bought by a company specialising in label printing.

Barmston Developments secured the sale of the property at Enterprise 36 – a four unit scheme along the M1 Corridor in Tankersley. Unit 3 has been bought by Dura ID Solutions in a deal worth about £3.55m.

This follows the sale of Unit 4 to Williams Rowlands in April, leaving two units available.

Enterprise 36 is being developed by Barmston Developments, a joint venture between Wilton Developments and Clugston Estates who began work in March 2019 to speculatively build Units 2, 3 and 4.

Jason Stowe, of Barmston Developments, said: “We are grateful to Barnsley Metropolitan Council for the support and belief they have shown in Enterprise 36 and this is now being reflected in the second sale on the scheme with only three months into construction.

“Unit 2 is under way and will provide 77,000 sq ft of high quality distribution or manufacturing space of a size and quality not readily available in the region.”

The development venture is being supported by Barnsley Council’s Property Investment Fund and its Enterprising Barnsley investment team, which has provided advice alongside specialist business coaching to Dura ID.

Councillor Tim Cheetham, Barnsley Council’s Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “Enterprise 36 is proving to be a real success story and further demonstrates that our Property Investment Fund is creating high quality jobs and boosting our local economy.

“We’re delighted that the company has chosen to expand to Barnsley and look forward to supporting their future growth.”

Commercial property company CBRE are acting as joint agents on the scheme alongside the firm Commercial Property Partners.

Mike Baugh, Senior Director at CBRE Leeds, added: “We are delighted to be working with Barmston Developments on this impressive scheme. The early deals concluded demonstrate the quality of the location and specification and offers one of very few opportunities along the M1 corridor.

“We anticipate continued interest in Plot 1 & Unit 2, particularly given the lack of stock in the market currently.”

Ed Norris, Partner at Commercial Property Partners, said: “The Dura transaction shows the high demand for units in a great location and for a quality product.

“Enterprise 36 offers occupiers both, and we fully anticipate the remaining two units to generate further interest in the very near future.”
