Northern Leadership Awards 2019: ‘Recognition in such a prestigious award allows you to take stock of how far you’ve come’

With less than a month remaining for entries to be submitted to the Northern Leadership Awards, over the coming weeks TheBusinessDesk.com will be talking to previous winners about their awards and why they would encourage other business leaders to put themselves forward for an accolade.

First up is Ellie MacDonald, founder and managing director of PR and communications firm MacComms, who took home the Young Leader award, sponsored by Brewin Dolphin.

She said: “Being recognised as Yorkshire’s young leader having run my PR agency over the past four years meant the world to me. I set up MacComms with core values at the heart of the operation which involves working only with good people behind impressive businesses, on a mission to drive positive change. We’re focused on giving back to the local community and proudly support charities and campaigns close to my heart, something I have done because I have felt passionate about it. To be recognised for these efforts and my approach to business by The Business Desk Yorkshire was and still is incredibly heart-warming and it’s an award I am proud to display.

“As business owners, we are so busy and can remain head down and focused on the day to day work. Recognition in such a prestigious award allows you to take stock of how far you’ve come and celebrate your achievements. I would certainly encourage other Yorkshire business owners to enter these awards.”
