Work on £9.5m scheme underway
Construction of a new £9.5m student accommodation scheme on Burley Street in Leeds city centre is underway.
Smarter Student Life will provide 87 studio apartments across eight floors with a cinema room, gym and a Co-Op store underneath the building.
Work completed so far on the project has seen the splitting of the site to create two working platforms that are some eight meters different in height due to the hill the development sits on. Contractor Tolent is undertaking the work for Burley Place.
Preparation is underway to start the foundations and drainage works and once completed, the team will be ready to take delivery of a 30 meter tower crane arriving in the summer.
Once on site, the tower crane marks a key milestone for the Tolent team and the local community as the concrete frame of the building will start to take shape and rise out of the ground.

National contractor Tolent has been working across the Leeds and wider Yorkshire area since 1990, delivering a variety of contracts from industrial, leisure and more recently student accommodation.
