People: New recruit for planning law firm; App specialist expands team; and more

Leeds-based specialist planning law business, Walton & Co, has expanded its team with the appointment of solicitor Alec Cropper. He joins from DWF, where he led the firm’s planning group.

Cropper acts for private and public sector clients across all aspects of the planning regime, including appeals, high court litigation, and negotiation of agreements.

He also advises in respect of compulsory purchase proceedings, acting for acquiring authorities and individuals affected by major regeneration and infrastructure projects.

Leeds-based app development specialist Pocketworks has added another member to its team.

Alex Logan joins as iOS developer from Surge in Newcastle, bringing with him more than two years experience in iPhone and iPad app development and a degree in Computer Science.

A self-proclaimed Apple obsessive, he specialises in iOS products and has previously created apps for clients across a variety of industries including health and food service.

He joins Pocketworks during a period of growth for the company. It is on course to hit the £1 million annual revenue mark for the first time this year and has won more new business in the construction, sport and hospitality sectors.

Logan explained: “I’m so excited to return to Leeds to join Pocketworks. The city has an incredible atmosphere with so much going on and the tech scene is absolutely thriving so it’s the perfect time to come home.

“I always said I’d come back for the right thing and when the role at Pocketworks came up it all fell into place.

“I wanted to work with a business that really cares about the apps it makes and the people it makes them for, which is exactly what Pocketworks is about.

“After my first call with the guys here I knew I wanted to see my face on their team website page, and now it is. It’s an exciting time for the company, I’m so pleased I get to be a part of it.”

iSource Group, an IT, digital and change management recruitment expert based in Leeds, has appointed a new Recruitment Consultant to the business to support its planned growth.

With experience of working within the permanent credit risk recruitment for UK banks, lenders and consultancies, Steven Harrison has joined the company to focus on the credit risk and analytics market across Yorkshire and the UK.

Harrison said: “I’m really excited to get involved in planning and hosting events for analytics professionals. This isn’t something I have had the opportunity to do in my previous role, so it gives me a new string to add to my bow.
