Six-figure funding package drives software provider’s expansion

A York-based business software provider is expanding its operations nationwide, with the support of a six-figure funding package to fund acquisitions.

The money for Onesys Group has come from HSBC UK, enabling it to buy two direct competitors – The Northern Path and AIM Software. As a result of the expansion, Onesys Group expects to recruit at least eight additional staff and increase turnover by 30% in the next 12 months.

The business, which supplies timesheet, project and billing systems, and has a major presence in Sage resource planning software (ERP), said the acquisitions would allow it to scale-up its operations in the North and Midlands by 50%.

The acquisitions are part of Onesys Group’s strategy to consolidate smaller Sage providers into a larger organisation that works with both SMEs and bigger businesses.

AIM Software and The Northern Path will continue to trade under their existing names, with the Group offering its expanded customer base a wider suite of software and business products.

Richard Knowles, Managing Director of Onesys Group, said: “Each acquisition broadens our technical skills and expertise, while providing deeper resources in key areas such as our user help-desk, consultancy and software development.

“With the financial backing and guidance of HSBC UK, we can continue to build on the excellent reputations of Onesys, The Northern Path and AIM.”

Stephen Smith, Relationship Manager for North & West Yorkshire, HSBC UK, added: “Onesys Group is a fine example of the sort of ‘growth-hungry’ businesses that we’re proud to back.

“Richard and his team are not afraid to make strategic investments to achieve their ambitious expansion strategy. We look forward to supporting them as they move forward with other acquisitions in the near future.”

Onesys Group’s history dates back to 1972 and its headquarters is in Little Ouseburn, York. The company has six offices throughout the UK, employing 50 people.
