100 Club: Tim Hodgson, Managing Director of Westcourt Properties

Tim Hodgson, Managing Director of Westcourt Properties, is a member of the Leeds Community Foundation’s 100 Club, a patronage scheme for individuals who are motivated to make a difference in Leeds.

Here, he discusses what he loves about the city, and why he’s involved in the foundation.

What is your favourite thing about Leeds?

18 Park Row is a beautiful Grade II listed property we acquired a few years ago and I was able to rename it Kenneth Hodgson House after my late Father. I love walking past this property and seeing his name engraved there above the door.

What’s your ideal day out in Leeds?

Early morning run in the countryside. Into town for a coffee at 200 Degrees, long lunch at Souz Les Nez, quick drink in The Victoria Pub, cheeky bourbon in Thewlis and then home early enough to say night to kids. What is the best lesson you have learnt in business

My father gave me loads of great business advice  – ‘never be afraid to take a profit’ – was one that has always stood out for me.

What single thing do you think could help the city?

Leeds United once more being in the Premier League

What inspired you to join the 100 Club?

I am from Leeds, and I am very proud of how well the city has advanced over recent years. However there are those who are really struggling in our city. LCF specifically helps those groups and volunteers who are helping those most in need in our city.

What community issues are important to you?

The fact there are some children in our city who will go hungry throughout the summer holidays because the only real meals they get are at school during term time is terrible. Likewise it is distressing to see the numbers of young and old people living rough on our streets.
