Acquisitions help fuel pharmaceutical firm’s rapid growth

Huddersfield-based pharmaceutical company Thornton & Ross is expanding following its purchase of a number of well-known dermatology brands.

The company, which recently acquired Savlon® and Oilatum® from GSK, manufactures and supplies a wide range of branded over-the-counter medicines, dermatological solutions and other healthcare and hygiene products including Zoflora®, Hedrin® and Setlers®.

It is part of the German-based STADA Group and has a strong track record of supplying the NHS with emollients and bone health products as well as offering a diverse portfolio of generic pharmaceuticals.

Mark Kirkup, Thornton Ross’s Vice-President of UK Operations, said dozens of new job opportunities have now been created as a direct result of the company’s continuing expansion.

He said: “This is a great time to be joining the business as there are ambitious growth plans in place at Thornton & Ross. These are permanent positions at different levels across the company that represent extremely exciting opportunities for the right candidates.”

He added that the business wants to fill 40 positions at its Linthwaite production site. Employees are sought to fill a variety of roles with the company, with posts including technical operators, team leaders, process workers and scientific roles.  The vacancies will be showcased at a recruitment fair at Huddersfield University later this month. Recruitment firm Huddersfield-based Red Diamond Executive Headhunters has been appointed to help fill the positions.
