Tech start-up to hit nation’s TV screens with appearance on Dragons’ Den

Following a rapid period of growth, Huddersfield-based tech start-up yboo is set to appear on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den.

The mobile comparison app will be on prime time television, trying to impress the Dragons and seeking a £250,000 investment for a 2.5% stake in the business.

CEO and Founder Martyn Gould will face the infamously intimidating panel members, encouraging them to join yboo’s mission to create a better, more transparent marketplace for consumers.

Gould said: “We’ve had an incredibly exciting year so far. Not only have we relocated offices to a larger premises in the centre of Huddersfield, helping us to attract new talent and work more collaboratively.

“But we’ve also launched our Insights Portal, partnering with major mobile operators to bring them insights into consumer behaviour. And we’ve received investment from Australian technology accelerator Black Nova, their first partnership with a UK-based business.

“Dragons’ Den provides us with a chance to pitch yboo to five of the UK’s leading investors, but also demonstrate to consumers exactly what our business is about. We can’t wait to see what people think and hear all the feedback once the episode has aired.”

yboo is a free-to-download app designed to help people find the best mobile deal for them. It offers consumers personalised network recommendations based on price and signal strength in the areas where they live, work and socialise.

The Dragons’ Den episode featuring this company is due to air on 18 August at 8pm on BBC Two.
