A seven-storey office block in Sheffield could be converted into 83 apartments.

Sheffield City Council has received change of use plans for Concept House, in Young Street. The application is from DLP Planning, on behalf of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance.

A letter from DLP Planning, submitted with the application, explains the existing property also features a basement, plant rooms and private parking to the rear.

The statement adds: “The surrounding area comprises a mix of uses including office, residential, hotel and retail warehousing with The Moor shopping area located to the north east of the application site.

“This area has seen increased investment recently, with The Moor undergoing phased regeneration.

“The proposed development comprises a change of use of the property from Office Use to 83 residential flats.

“It will provide 46 two-bed apartments and 37 one-bed apartments.

“Future residents will have access to the on-site parking area, which consists of 118 parking spaces.

“The site is highly accessible and sustainably located with future residents having access to an alternative means of transport other than the car.”

The applicant also noted that some changes to the exterior of the property would be required if the change of use proposals are approved.

They would include new and replacement windows and the demolition of the rear entrance lobby to allow for extra windows.
