IT and business consultancy to move into 30,490 sq ft office

An IT and business consultancy has taken 30,490 sq ft at a Leeds city centre office building to support its growth and retain its base in the city’s “centre of excellence for digital innovation.”

BJSS has agreed a ten-year lease and will take occupation of 1 Whitehall Quay in its entirety. The firm is currently based at Coronet House, on Queen Street, in Leeds.

Stuart Bullock, managing director of BJSS said: “BJSS has a rich history in Leeds, and our move to 1 Whitehall Quay is a bold endorsement of our belief in the role it plays as a centre of excellence for digital innovation and growth of local talent.

“Not only is this good news for Leeds, but it is good news for BJSS too. We feel we are one of the city’s premier technology employers, and through this move we are geared for further expansion of our award-winning delivery lab and graduate learning academy. It will provide greater opportunities to the city’s professionals, stakeholders and businesses and showcases the benefits of our strong relationships with Leeds’ based organisations such as the Leeds City Council, NHS Digital, First Direct and Clydesdale Yorkshire Banking Group.”

The property, which is situated in the heart of Leeds’ west end adjacent to the River Aire, has been comprehensively refurbished by the owner, Legal & General, with a £1.5m investment.

Matt Jarvis, senior fund manager at Legal & General, said: “We are pleased to welcome BJSS to the building. The letting is testament to our team of asset managers’ ability to create high-quality office space in a location where there is a significant supply/demand imbalance.”

Richard Thornton, director at JLL who advised on the deal, added: “Legal & General has capitalised on the current city centre supply pressures for good quality offices by completing the refurbishment of the entire building.

“1 Whitehall Quay’s location next to the railway station and the city’s extensive retail and leisure amenities make this a great choice.”

JLL, working alongside Colliers International and Knight Frank, advised Legal & General. Heaney Micklethwaite represented BJSS.
