Construction business raising the roof with £1.3m school contract

Yorkshire construction company Harris CM has begun a £1.3m contract which will see it replace extensive sections of roof and carry out fire safety improvements at North Yorkshire’s largest school.

South Craven School, in Cross Hills, is a coeducational secondary and sixth form school with academy status and has more than 1,700 students aged between 11 and 19.

Harris CM has been appointed by MAC Construction Consultants, which is supervising the works on behalf of South Craven. Most of the 12-week programme has been scheduled to coincide with the summer holiday period.

Jason Adlam, CEO at Harris CM, said: “This work will significantly improve the fabric of the main school building as well as ensuring its fire safety systems meet the highest standards possible.

“Securing this contract is testimony to Harris CM’s ability to provide a competitively priced service whilst maintaining a safe working environment in a potentially hazardous school environment.

“It’s also a notable project to be working on as we continue to build our reputation in the education sector.”

Kika Masters, Premises Manager at South Craven School, said: “This is a major project for us that will future proof our fire safety system and ensure our main building can continue to serve generations of students for years to come.

“The team from Harris CM are all extremely professional and knowledgeable. We are really enjoying working with them.”
