SUPERMARKET group Morrisons has named Dalton Philips as its new chief executive.

Mr Philips has been chief operating officer of Loblaw, Canada's largest food distributor and a leading provider of general merchandise, pharmacy and financial products and services, since 2007.

As revealed by TheBusinessDesk.com this week, the 41-year-old replaces Marc Bolland who left the Bradford-based company to become chief executive of Marks & Spencer late last year.

He will take up his new position in March.
