SIMON Rigby, who has pioneered the growth of support services group Spice into a leading stock market quoted company, has stepped down as its chief executive.

In a surprise annoucement, Spice said Mr Rigby wished to stand down from the Leeds-based business as he believes a "new style" of chief executive is required at the helm.

Mr Rigby, described as a "highly entrepreneurial character" in a statement issued by Spice, has made "a personal decision" to pursue his other business interests.
