SHEFFIELD is to host the Liberal Democrat Party's Spring Conference next year, it was announced today.

The event will be held at Sheffield City Hall in March 2011 and is expected to bring an additional £1m to Sheffield's economy.

The announcement was today hailed as a coup for the city as it will be the first time Sheffield has played host to a national conference of its size and profile.
