Drax's profits hit by commodity markets

POWER generator Drax has seen its profits slide over the past year as a direct result of weak commodity markets.
But the operators of Britain's biggest power station, based at Selby in North Yorkshire, believes that the business is well positioned for the future as a result of improved efficiency.
The company saw its earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) drop to £355m in the year to the end of December 2009 from £454m last time.
