Farsley Celtic disbanded as rescue deals rejected

NON-LEAGUE football club Farsley Celtic have been disbanded after the club's administrators rejected improved offers from a consortium hoping to save the club.

Farsley's expulsion from the Football Conference was expected to occur later this week after they failed to fulfil their last three fixtures.

The Blue Square North side, based in Leeds, entered administration at the start of the season with reported debts of £750,000.

Terrible news, another club bites the dust. With Halifax a couple of seasons ago, Bradford and Leeds' multiple administrations it's been a pretty dire few seasons for West Yorkshire sport. Hopefully come May they'll be a couple of things to shout about.
