Advertising slump hurts Johnston

A SHARP 26% decline in advertising revenues left regional newspaper publisher Johnston Press, owner of the Yorkshire Post, nursing a heavy loss last year.

But the Edinburgh-based group, which owns a string of titles in the region including The Star in Sheffield,  said a "measure of month on month stability" had returned to its markets and declines in circulation had slowed from -7.8% to -6.3% at its daily titles.
