High-speed rail route announced

A NEW £30bn high-speed rail network, with 250mph trains to link Leeds and Sheffield to the capital, has been announced by the Government.
Transport Secretary Lord Adonis gave Labour's backing to a new 335-mile London to Scotland HSR network.
However, concerns have been raised that work on the high speed system will not be completed in Yorkshire for a quarter of a century.

Whilst this is very postive news why does it take so long to come to fruition? I spend my life travelling between Leeds and London and this would change my life. However I'll be retired (hopefully) or dead (a less favourable choice) by the time it actually happens - if it ever does.

It needs to connect directly to Heathrow ..... just like Frankfurt and other main international transport hubs...Mike Ridgway
