Guy Martin-Laval celebrates La Grillade's 30th birthday with guest, writer Alan Bennett
ONE of Yorkshire's best known and most popular restaurants has celebrated its 30th birthday with a dinner featuring celebrated writer Alan Bennett.
More than 100 people gathered at La Grillade in Leeds on Friday evening for a charity dinner where the Yorkshire-born playwright and author answered questions and gave a reading from one of his books.
French restaurateur Guy Martin-Laval launched the cellar restaurant in Wellington Street three decades ago and it has become one of the city's premier dining venues attracti......for the full story register now for free or login below...
I was very fortunate to be among those celebrating Giuy's 30 years in business at La Grillade and it was a wonderful night. The food, as always, was superb, the company excellent and Alan Bennett made it very special indeed giving us an insight into the way he wrote those fascinating books. He is as charming and entertaining as he comes over on the TV and it was a pirivilege to be there to meet him.
