MINORPLANET Systems, the Yorkshire vehicle tracking group, has gained the backing of a South African rival to put together a £3m deal to prevent its UK arm being wound up and 95 jobs being lost.

An unpaid £2m tax bill had led HM Revenue & Customs to issue a winding up order for the Leeds-based group's UK subsidiary, Minorplanet Ltd.
