Milestone overseas contract win for MTL
MTL Group, the Sheffield-based supplier of processed armour, has been awarded a €4m (£3.4m) contract to supply a German customer.
The contract will use all of MTL’s processing equipment including large format laser cutting, waterjet cutting, large intricate pressing, automated welding, and large CNC machining and painting.
MTL said its ability to supply high quality parts from both armour and high strength materials as a commercially competitive price was now being recognised worldwide and significant orders were being secured.
Karl Stewart, MTL’s sales director, said: “This is a major breakthrough for us in the German market.
“We had to ensure all the correct qualifications were in place including the rigorous audit that was carried out at our manufacturing site in 2009. This has made us the only supplier to have this qualification in the UK.”
He said that the group’s customers were also benefiting from its wide range of stock armour and its strong buying power from the armour manufacturing mills.
As part of its marketing strategy to develop its export markets MTL Group will be exhibiting at several exhibitions over the next 12 months including France, India, UAE and South Africa.
