Nuclear contract boosts Renew

A COMPANY operated by Yorkshire-based Renew Holdings has been appointed sole contractor on a project that could be worth £26m over the next four years.

Shepley Engineers will be working on a scheme to improve the safety of the storage ponds for spent nuclear fuel at the Sellafield nuclear reprocessing site in Cumbria.

The company recently announced it had been appointed to a framework agreement for land remediation contracting services for National Grid and this morning it confirmed that project will have an annual spend of more than £30m.

It also has hydroelectric generation framework agreements with Scottish Water and Welsh Water that will last three years and have a combined spend of £16m.

Chief executive Brian May said: “These new framework appointments reinforce our already strong engineering services forward order position.

“The recently announced Government commitment to infrastructure funding confirms the board’s confidence that Renew’s position as an engineering services group supporting UK infrastructure will provide sustainable, profitable growth in 2012 and beyond.”
