New coffin for ‘dyed-in-the-wool’ England fans

WEST Yorkshire textile firm Hainsworth has created the ultimate resting place for the diehard England fan – a St George’s Cross coffin.

The firm has produced a unique twist on its woollen coffins for football fanatics who still want to fly the flag after their final whistle has blow.

The new coffin follows investment in Hainsworth’s innovative ‘green’ coffin launched last year.

Fully biodegradable, the coffins are made from 100% pure British wool, recycled cardboard and organic cotton to provide a comforting and environmentally friendly alternative for families.

Rachel Hainsworth, director at Hainsworth said: “Wool is sustainable and biodegradable and is the perfect choice for those who wish to arrange funerals, which are less harmful to the environment. Part of our Natural Legacy range, the coffins have been well received by both funeral businesses and bereaved relatives.

“Following the launch in America, we started exporting to Europe late last year and we’re now sending our first shipments out to the Australian market.”

The St. George’s coffin is being displayed at Mahony & Ward, a Yorkshire-based funeral business, which has already supplied many of the Natural Legacy woollen coffins to families across the region.

Family-owned Hainsworth has been manufacturing textiles for more than 225 years, covering applications, which range from billiard table cloths and piano felt to military uniforms and cashmere blankets.
