MIPIM backed by Sheffield City Region

THE Sheffield City Region, backed by a consortium of private sector partners, is to be represented at property conference MIPIM.

The world’s largest property and regeneration event takes place in Cannes, France, in March.

Although Sheffield has had a presence at MIPIM since 2003, this year will mark the first time that opportunities associated with the entire Sheffield City Region will be promoted.

As well as Sheffield, the City Region encompasses Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, north Nottinghamshire and north Derbyshire.

Private sector organisations that have signed up to support the delegation include 4 Urban, Bond Bryan, Building Design Partnership, Cordwell Property Group, Harworth Estates, Henry Boot, HLM Architects, Jefferson Sheard, Keepmoat, Lane Walker, Nabarro, Rider Levett Bucknall, Sheffield Business Park and Vinci Construction.

James Newman, chairman of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, and John Mothersole, chief executive of Sheffield City Council, will be amongst the senior delegation travelling from the region.

David Fletcher, director of Creative Sheffield, the body organising the Sheffield City Region mission to MIPIM, said: “We are delighted at the very positive response we’ve had from the private sector.

“All the costs associated with the events we are hosting at MIPIM are being covered through the contributions from these partners.

“The City Region is a stronger and more diverse product for us to promote internationally, as it includes key economic assets such as the recently announced enterprise zone, Doncaster Sheffield Airport, and, of course, the beautiful green space of the Peak District National Park.

“Our key objectives at MIPIM are to provide a platform for our private sector partners to generate new business opportunities, and to ensure that our region is on the radar screen for future investment.”

The Leeds City Region will also be represented at MIPIM.
