Language specialist heads North

A SPECIALIST translation, interpreting and transcription company plans to make its mark in the North after opening a new office in Yorkshire.

Global Lingo has moved to offices in The Leeds Innovation Centre, which will be the hub of the company’s marketing and sales operations.

The company will employ five staff and expects further expansion within the next six months.

The office will be headed up by director of marketing, Richard Michie.

He said: “I’ve been based in Leeds since I joined Global Lingo, so the foundations for the office were already there. Early this year we decided to expand the team and we knew it would be difficult to achieve this in London, so Leeds was an obvious choice.

“I’ve lived in the city for three years now and Andrew Trotter, the managing director, completed his degree at the university so we knew a lot about Leeds. There’s also a great workforce available with the university language school and the other language companies having offices in the area.”

The office will be the base for existing account manager Marian Arnold, who is moving back to Leeds, and new account manager Paul Green.

Mr Michie added: “The Leeds office will be our marketing and sales hub, with the production side maintained in London, and because lots of our work is done on the phone and the internet we can still provide our clients with the high levels of service they have become used to.”
